After the official opening by Queen Beatrix, the museum was not only full of art, but a unique collection of Dutch artists as well. There were performances by vocalist Wende Snijders and hip-hop/R&B group Jeugd van Tegenwoordig, while mezzo soprano Tania Kross teamed up with DJ Kypski and the Matangi String Quartet. An amazing ballet took place on the old staircase and there were discussions of art and poetry readings. The escalator regularly transformed into a moving catwalk featuring models in creations designed by Bas Kosters.
